Patatas en Salsa Verde....YUMMY!!!

English Pea, Potato and Rice Soup (Patatas en Salsa Verde)

Makes enough for 4 people

2 Tbs olive oil
2 cloves garlic, thinly sliced
7-8 small yukon gold potatoes, peeled and sliced
2 Tbs parsley, finely chopped
1/4 cup white wine
1 qt water (enough to cover and a bit more)
1/2 cup fresh or frozen english peas
2 Tbs arborio or bomba rice
1 tsp salt
4 eggs, soft boil (optional)

In a large pot, heat the olive oil with the garlic. Cook for about a minute on medium heat. We don't want it to turn brown, just lightly cook. Add the sliced potatoes and cook them in the olive oil for about 2 minutes until you feel they are starting to stick to the pan. Add the chopped parsley and stir.

Add the white wine and let the alcohol evaporate. Cover with water, add the peas, rice and salt. Bring to a boil, lower heat to medium and let it simmer for about 20 minutes until potatoes are tender. taste and adjust salt.

Serve with eggs if desired, fresh parsley, cilantro flowers and toasted bread.

I discovered this food blog-A MUST FOR FOODIES!!
We made this soup over the weekend and I promise it will NOT disappoint!  The flavors literally jump out of the bowl...yummy

Have a great week!

Welcome to your Girls Night Out ultimate experience

I ran across this chic little offer from Brazilian Court (one of my favorite hotels in PB and where I got married!!)  What better way to get away with your girlfriends.  Shopping, fine dining, a spa experience, and SHOPPING!!  Sounds like a winner to me:)

The Brazilian Court Hotel & Beach Club -- an icon of Palm Beach society with its Mediterranean style and 80 exquisitely redesigned suites -- aligns itself with Tory Burch, the luxury lifestyle brand defined by classic American sportswear with an eclectic sensibility, to create the ultimate Girls Night Out package*. Starting at $244/night and available now through Dec. 21, 2010**, ladies checking in enjoy a Tory Burch™ signature gift awaiting them in a luxurious Studio or One-Bedroom Suite.
Guests have the opportunity to host a chic “Girls Night Out” shopping party in the Tory Burch™ boutique on Worth Avenue, where the $100 gift card, included in the signature gift, is put to good use. Complimentary champagne flows as ladies slip into trendy tunics and bright ballet flats and take advantage of an exclusive store special.
Ladies looking for a little sustenance before shopping the night away head to Café Boulud for decadent, traditional French cuisine and a glass or two of the Château Durfort-Vivens. Before stepping out, a trip to the Frederic Fekkai salon is also in order. Here girlfriends can begin the shopping ritual with a requisite mani/pedi and blowout.

Tips For A Night On The Town

1. Have a few little black dresses. “I have about 10,” Pulitzer says. “You can constantly update [them] with a little clutch or the right piece of jewelry.”
2. Stick to basics. “It’s best to spend a little more on a really pretty, simple piece of jewelry [that you can wear every day], as opposed to a dress that costs the same amount that you will only wear once every few weeks,” Pulitzer says.
3. Avoid silk pieces. They look dressy, but they wrinkle, and you have to dry clean them. Jersey and denim will hold up over time, and you can wash them.
4. Alternate accessories. Wear the necklace tonight and the earrings tomorrow.
5. Go for neutral colors. Black, brown and navy work for all seasons.
6. Strapless styles are very versatile. They look great on their own, and the simple neckline looks elegant under a blazer or with a wrap.
7. Skinny jeans and heels is a great look for going out. To update boot-cut jeans, take them to a tailor and have the volume taken out of the bottoms.
8. Have a suit? Roll up the jacket sleeves, pair it with jeans, fun accessories and heels—and you’ve got a cute evening outfit.

I am so excited about these fun cocktail rings ($64.00)  The price is right and the look is more than right:)  When I am putting together an outfit there is a good chance it is getting topped off with a big ring! These are raw stone, wire wrapped, over sized rings, and my current fave:)!!!

Beach Time

This sums up my beach trip I am planning this weekend.  Yes we live less than a mile from the beach and we will be posted up there all day on Sunday...cannot wait!!  My kids are ready to break out their surf boards and I am ready for some fun in the sun.  Picnic lunch, buckets for collecting "stuff", snorkeling or surfing depending on the conditions, and  all day sun on our bodies=heaven.  We are headed just south of the flagpole in PB and we are totally "stocked"

Kim Coleman Design

I am so excited to see this blue beach house layout in House Beautiful.  This amazing designer is very well know in Palm Beach and New York for her impeccable taste.  I should know, I worked for her for several years.   She is so talented and this national recognition is long overdue in my book.  Kim travels the world and brings  to her clients a worldly air of sophistication.  She has a very special place in my heart and I know you all will love her work.  So refreshing to see  her work especially in Palm Beach where she breaks the mold.  She is the best of the best!!! Cutting my design tooth with Kim was also more fun that can be described:)!!

Beyond Funny

Unless you have been under a rock you know who Chelsea Handler is.  I could not help myself and picked up her new book, it is pee your pants funny.  She just has that way of saying what is probably on your mind.  If you plan to be poolside anytime soon make sure this is in your bag:)!!

Bag Lady

Bag Lady is quite possibly how I will be remembered.  I never seem to have enough and always seem to be coveting at least one new one.  This is my current obsession:)  Tye dye, slouchy, leather trimmed perfection!  Local girls come see me for this and other new spring bags all under $200.00:)!!!

White Paint Calms The Soul

Ahh, there.. now isn't that better.  This relaxes me just looking at it.  When I moved to Florida (from Texas) I was smitten by the tropical lifestyle.  And although I still LOVE the beach, the ocean, and wearing flip flops year round I am headed back to my roots!  I painted every room in my home a different tropical color and filled every bowl with seashells and citrus.  It was fun but I must say white interiors with old woods and antiques is really just more where my heart is!  I am starting my DIY white paint  project very soon:)

I will post pics of the renovation and the BIG smile that is going to be on my face:)

Need something green?  Well maybe you do since in it St. Pattys Day!  I have never been one for green beer and rowdy bar crowds, but I am one for a cute outfit:)  These bib necklaces come in turquoise, black, and GREEN.  They come with an adorable white tank but also detach so you can tie them over anything you like!!

Kate the Great

I am sure we can all agree at one point or another Kate has inspired our look.  Or at least we wanted to look like her.  I love how she always looks like she just threw something on as she walked out the door.  I think if you only buy things you LOVE this is easy to pull off!  What I am in love with today is still my relaxed weekender boyfriend jeans, they just feel sooooo good:)

Field Trip...this is a MUST see for PB county residents

So, if you have not been to and taken your kids to The girls strawberry u pick you should right away!!  We went for a field trip and I decided to take both my kids along for the ride:)  When you pull up it looks like an average old Florida shopping center.  When you walk into the old fashioned ice cream parlor and kids dream candy store it is very obvious it is much more.  Just walk out the back door, grab your bucket for your fresh picks, and enter an old Florida wonderland and a truly charming experience.

Acres and acres of hydroponic strawberries stacked in planters so you can pick them very easily!

Lucy (my 4 1/2 year old) has a huge thing for strawberry shortcake and was really BESIDE herself the entire day:)  She particularly LOVED this old car:)

When we got home we decided to make this strawberry pie, what a fun way to spend the day with my kids!!
Almost there!!

Well here is it:)  This was such an amazing way to spend the day with my kids!!  The Girls strawberry u pick was oozing with old Florida charm and I loved every minute:)

Enjoy your family!!

Black and White, the perfect canvas

After a nice weekend at home with my family I am inspired to make a few changes, mainly add this IKEA rug to the mix.  I am partial to black and white interiors with pops of color and this rug suites me perfectly!  What is not to love about IKEA?  Affordable, stylish, and  great quality!  Amazing how sometimes one item can transform a room, and this item defiantly does the trick:)
